14 GB of disk space and a stranded island are what you're starting with. Here's how the Mac version holds up.

System requirements — macOS 10.14 or later, Intel only, and 14 GB free. It runs through Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon.

Performance — Tested on an M1 MacBook Air with macOS Sequoia. The game holds a steady frame rate at medium settings. The fan stays quiet through most firefights and climbing sections.

Controls — Keyboard and mouse work fine, but a controller feels more natural for the climbing and bow aiming. The game picks up a PlayStation or Xbox controller without fuss.

Languages — The interface ships in thirteen languages, including Russian, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, and Czech. You switch languages in a config file, not a menu.

Bottom line: A solid Mac port that runs better than you'd expect on an M1, as long as you have the disk space.

Scavenge before you engage

The game throws you into a hostile jungle with a bow and a half-baked survival instinct. A couple of habits early on make the whole campaign smoother.

  • Scavenge before you engage. The first hour rewards patience. Crates, animal carcasses, and salvage boxes are everywhere if you slow down. Rushing into the first wolf den with three arrows leads to a reload screen. Stockpile salvage early — it's the currency for every weapon upgrade later.
  • Unlock the arrow retrieval skill first. In the survival skill tree, it's the one that lets you pull arrows from fallen enemies. You'll double your ammo pool without hunting for more. It pays for itself within two firefights.
  • Use campfires as fast-travel anchors. The island opens up after the first few story beats. If you skip lighting campfires, you'll retread the same mountain paths for half an hour. Light them when you see them.

Spend skill points early for steadier aim

Most missteps come from treating the game like a pure shooter. It isn't one.

Hoarding skill points. New players sometimes save points waiting for a "better" skill later in the tree. The early skills — steadier aim, faster salvage collection — change the feel of combat right away. Spending points early keeps the difficulty curve from spiking.

Ignoring the dodge-counter. The tutorial mentions dodging once and moves on. But a well-timed dodge against melee attackers opens a slow-motion counter window. Against the island's armored brutes, it's more reliable than unloading a pistol clip. Practice it on the first scavenger group you meet.

Skipping optional tombs. The game labels them optional, so some players walk right past. Each one rewards you with a chunk of XP and a map that reveals nearby collectibles. Skipping them leaves Lara under-leveled for the mid-game encounters. The tomb near the coastal forest is a ten-minute puzzle that gives you a noticeable edge.

If you grabbed a tomb raider goty for mac cracked copy from an older archive, double-check it's the 1.2 fix build — earlier versions had a bug where one tomb entrance wouldn't trigger the puzzle logic, and you'd stare at a sealed door with no way forward.
