ArchiCAD 29.2.1 runs on any Mac that handles macOS 14 or newer, Intel or Apple Silicon. If your machine is still on an older system, you'll need to upgrade before this version will install.
What does the latest update actually fix?
The 29.2.1 release is a maintenance pass. It clears up a crash when scrolling through Attributes, fixes a remaining input hiccup in the Rotate command, and corrects Zone Stamp and schedule values for wall surface areas after you change zone geometry.
Did Teamwork get better?
Yes. Send and Receive on BIMcloud SaaS no longer takes inconsistently long to finish. There's also a fix for a Share dialog issue that could point you at the wrong host server for the folder you were working in.
Unchanged core toolset
The core toolset is unchanged. You still get 3D architectural design, Virtual Building technology, GDL for making parametric elements, and the built-in web portal for exchanging BIM components with a team or on your own.
Rush sections from a revised BIMcloud model
Say you're the BIM coordinator at a twelve-person practice. Monday morning, the project architect drops a revised structural model on BIMcloud and needs updated sections by lunch. You open ArchiCAD, pull the latest Teamwork changes — smoother now, no coffee-break wait — and spot three wall assemblies that need adjusting. Twenty minutes of editing, a quick zone check to confirm the surface area numbers match the new layout, and you push clean drawings to the layout book. That kind of morning used to stretch into the afternoon.
Start with a small test file first
After you install and launch, resist the urge to open last year's big project straight away. That's the scenic route to frustration. Instead:
- Create a small test file — two rooms, a basic roof, a couple of custom wall composites. Use it as a sandbox while you explore the palette changes in 29.
- Open the object dialog and browse the BIM components portal right inside the app. Favorites you save here travel with your work environment.
- Run a Teamwork Send and Receive on something tiny before you trust it with the production model. The BIMcloud SaaS fixes in this update help, but you'll want to see it with your own eyes on your own network.
Switch to the Architect work profile
Work environment profile. ArchiCAD ships with a default layout that tries to please everyone. Switch to the "Architect" or "Custom" profile so your palettes and toolbars match what you actually click each day. It's under Options > Work Environment > Work Environment Profiles.
Autosave timing. The factory default is conservative. If you work fast, bump the autosave interval to every 15 minutes and set the number of backup copies to at least 10. Disk space is cheap; redoing three hours of roof modeling is not.
Navigator preview size. That tiny thumbnail in the Navigator isn't much help when you're hunting for the right elevation. Drag the preview pane wider, then right-click the preview and switch the display mode to OpenGL. You'll recognise drawings before you double-click them.
Give these a day or two before you tweak anything deeper. Let the hotfix settle and you'll know what needs changing next.
The 29.2.1 update is mostly about smoothing out rough edges.
- Fixed a crash when scrolling through Attributes.
- Fixed a remaining input issue in the Rotate command.
- Improved Teamwork Send and Receive speed on BIMcloud SaaS.
- Fixed incorrect Zone Stamp and schedule wall surface area values after geometry changes.
- Fixed a Share dialog issue that could select the wrong host server.
- macOS 14 or newer
- Intel or Apple Silicon Mac
- Languages: English, Russian
Questions I actually get
Can I install ArchiCAD on an older Mac?
No. The current version requires macOS 14 or later, so anything below that won't run it.
Does ArchiCAD work on Apple Silicon?
Yes, it supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.
Is the update a full installer?
No. You need the main version installed first — the update won't install without it.

No notes on this one yet. They go up after I read them.
