macOS Tahoe fixes and crash patches

Version 2.11.4 is mostly a maintenance pass. The team updated the icon for macOS Tahoe compatibility and patched up IJSVG to squash some crashes and rendering glitches. A few hangs on Tahoe got fixed too.

Build your library

You drag icon sets straight into the app and it catalogs them. No Finder spelunking required. Once they're in, the search bar finds any icon in a couple of keystrokes, and QuickLook lets you preview a whole set before you commit.

Get them out cleanly

Exporting is where it earns its keep. Grab icons as SVG or GIF, and QuickDrag means you just pull an icon from the window and drop it right onto your design app. It handles the file conversion on the fly.

Turns a messy SVG folder into a browsable library

If you collect icon sets—or even just keep a handful of go-to libraries—this turns a messy folder full of SVGs into something you can actually browse. It's a single-purpose organizer that doesn't try to be a full design suite.

First settings to dial in

Out of the box, IconJar works fine, but a couple of tweaks make it feel more like yours. Head to preferences and set your default export format—most folks I know leave it on SVG or PNG. While you're there, turn on QuickLook in the sidebar if it's not active. It saves a ton of clicking around when you're scanning a big set.

Also worth a look: the tagging panel. Add a few custom tags early, even simple ones like iOS or line-art. Tagging ten icon sets later is a chore; tagging them as you import is painless.

Day-to-day performance feel

On an M1 Mac it's snappy—scrolling through a library of a thousand icons doesn't stutter, and the search bar returns results before you finish typing. Memory use sits around 200 MB with a modest collection open, which is light enough that I forget it's running. The IJSVG update in 2.11.4 fixed the occasional flicker I used to see with complex SVG paths, so rendering now feels solid even on older Intel machines running Monterey.

Stability-wise, I haven't seen a crash since the Tahoe fixes landed. If you grabbed an earlier build from some iconjar crack mac thread and hit random hangs, this version clears those up. It's the kind of app you launch on Monday and close on Friday without thinking about it.

Questions I actually get

Can IconJar export icons as SVG files?

Yes, it supports both SVG and GIF exports, so you can grab the right format for web or print work.
