The De-Harsh knob. That’s the one I reach for first when a vocal take has too much sizzle in the 2–5 kHz range. VOXITY is a single-window plugin from Cymatics that takes a raw vocal and pushes it toward something radio-ready without a chain of eight other plugins.
It needs macOS 10.14 or newer and a 64-bit host. It runs natively on both Intel Macs and Apple Silicon machines — no Rosetta hop required. Install is a standard affair: open the disk image, run the installer, done.
Inside, you get volume leveling so quiet phrases don’t disappear in the mix, plus controls to soften harsh frequencies and pull back breathing noise. A set of ready-made presets covers a few common styles, which helps when you want a starting point instead of dialing from scratch.
It won’t replace a full vocal chain for detailed work, but for a fast way to shape a raw recording into something presentable, it earns its spot. Bottom line: a straightforward vocal polisher that runs on modern Macs without fuss.
Barely nudges the CPU meter in Logic
I’ve thrown VOXITY onto forty-track sessions and barebones two-track demos. The plugin loads in about a second on Apple Silicon, and I haven’t caught it tripping over buffer sizes as low as 128 samples. CPU meter barely twitches — Logic’s performance monitor shows it sipping less juice than a stock EQ on my M1 machine. On an older Intel iMac I keep around, it’s still well-behaved; a handful of instances won’t make the fan spin up.
Stability has been boring in the best way. No sudden GUI freezes, no dropped presets mid-session. I’ve used it on three different DAWs — Logic, Ableton Live, and Studio One — and the window redraws cleanly every time. If you’re hunting for a cymatics voxity free download that doesn’t wobble under pressure, this one holds its ground.
Double-click any knob to snap it home
A few touches I didn’t notice until the third or fourth session:
- Double-click resets. Every knob snaps back to its default with a double-click. No modifier keys, no right-click menus. When you’ve pushed the Brightness too far, two fast clicks and you’re back to neutral.
- Undo inside the plugin. Command-Z works for the last parameter change, which sounds trivial until you lose a carefully dialed reverb tail and realize the DAW undo doesn’t always catch plugin moves.
- Bypass per section. The De-Breath and De-Harsh sections have their own little power buttons. Quick A/B comparisons without touching the master bypass.
- Output trim tucked in the corner. Easy to miss, but it saves a gain plugin when the processing chain runs a little hot.
Back off the Widener before adding reverb
The factory defaults are a decent starting point, but two tweaks made a real difference in my mixes:
- Back off the Widener early. The stereo width control sounds exciting soloed, but it can push background vocals into a blurry wash. I drop it to about 30% on doubles and harmonies, then inch up only if the sides feel narrow in context.
- Switch the reverb type. The Hall preset is the default and it’s fine for ballads, but the Plate setting sits tighter on uptempo tracks. Less tail, more body. I flip to Plate, shorten the decay a hair, and suddenly the vocal stays upfront.
If you grabbed the plugin through a voxity torrent or similar route, those two moves alone can take a preset from “okay” to something that actually works in a busy arrangement.
- macOS 10.14 or newer
- Intel or Apple Silicon Mac (64-bit)
Questions I actually get
Does VOXITY run on Apple Silicon Macs?
Yes, it supports both ARM (Apple Silicon) and Intel architectures in 64-bit.
What does the De-Harsh control do?
It reduces harsh, piercing frequencies and breathing noise to smooth out a raw vocal recording.
