Version 356600 is the current build, and it keeps the focus where it should be: on the Traveler, the Collective, and the ruined places you move through.

Scavenge decaying Eastern European ruins for supplies

You scavenge through decaying Eastern European structures, picking through concrete halls and retrofuturist machinery for supplies and a way forward. The Collective sends you in, and mostly you walk, watch, and survive.

How does the soul-collection mechanic fit in?

You gather souls as you go, which ties directly into how you progress and what you can afford to risk. It is not a score counter; it is the resource that keeps you moving.

What does the world feel like?

Heavy concrete, old tech, quiet dread. The retrofuturist gear looks like something built in a past that never quite happened, and the silence does a lot of the work.

A few other recent Mac horror games come to mind when I play this. Resident Evil 4 leans hard into action and quick reflexes — it wants you to feel capable. Cronos slows you down and makes aiming feel deliberate, closer to the weighty gunplay in Resident Evil 2 Remake. The biggest difference is the soul economy. Where Signalis uses a tight inventory puzzle, Cronos makes your soul stash the thing you are always nervous about spending. If you found Signalis too abstract, this one grounds its weirdness in concrete hallways and heavy doors.

Check soul pouch, then sweep a crumbling apartment block

I load into a crumbling apartment block. The only light comes from a work light flickering near a stairwell. First move: check the soul pouch. I have enough for one risky encounter, but not enough to get reckless.

  • Sweep the ground floor room by room, crouched. A cabinet holds a makeshift bandage. No enemies yet.
  • Upstairs, a creature shambles out of what used to be a kitchen. I back into a doorway and line up a shot. The Traveler's hands shake just enough to make me wait an extra beat before firing.
  • It takes two rounds, then another shape stirs behind it. They merge — the smaller form gets absorbed and suddenly I am looking at something much taller. This is the moment you learn not to hoard souls forever.
  • I sprint down the hall, vault a fallen shelf, and trigger a time-flash. The world ripples and I am standing in the same building thirty years earlier. Cleaner, but not safer. The merged thing is gone; something else is here now.

That rhythm — scavenge, fight, merge, escape, then shift into the past — becomes instinctive. You stop reacting and start planning two jumps ahead.

Bottom line: it is a slow, tense third-person survival game where staying alive means watching every corner.
