The Ironman roll
You pick mercenary, not because you want to, but because the dice said so. Ironman mode is already on. One life, no do-overs. First thing you see is a port town with a ship that needs a crew and a temple that's looking for acolytes. You walk past both and head for the market.
- Pick a fight on purpose. A back alley in Marlock City. You spot a smuggler and decide to try the tactical combat. It's turn-based, grid-style. You win with two hit points left. The loot includes a cargo of silk worth triple what you started with.
- Buy a ship upgrade. You take the silk money to the shipyard. Better hull, a few cannons, and a navigator who doesn't get seasick. Now the map opens up. Islands you couldn't reach before show up on the horizon.
- Join a temple for the wrong reasons. You become a priest of Tyrnai for the free healing. Turns out the temple has its own quest line, and they want you to sail to a cursed island to retrieve a relic. The crew isn't happy about it.
- Trade goods between kingdoms. You load up on spices in one port, sell them at a markup two islands over, and use the profit to buy information about a lost castle. The game doesn't tell you to do this. You just figure it out.
Minutes feel like real decisions here. You're not following a quest marker. You're looking at a map, checking your cargo, and wondering if the storm on the horizon is worth the risk. That's the loop.
Version 3.0.2 is out, and the big addition is The Castle of Lost Souls DLC. New territory, new trouble.

Questions I actually get
What roles can I play in Fabled Lands?
You can start as an explorer, trader, priest, scholar, thief, wizard, or mercenary. Each one opens different early-game opportunities.
Can I own a ship in this game?
Yes, the ship system lets you buy upgrades, hire a crew, and sail between islands to trade or follow quest lines.
What is Ironman mode?
Ironman mode gives you one life with no reloading old saves. Every combat, trade deal, and storm you sail into sticks.
